Keven became a career fire fighter with the City of SeaTac in 1991. Becoming active within his local union from the start, he was elected President of Local 2919 in 1996 after serving as the Political Action Director and Secretary/Treasurer.

In September of 2000, he stepped down as local president to accept the position of Legislative Liaison with the WSCFF.

Bud was hired by the Kent Fire Department in 1993. He became active in his local's political action committee and soon was very active in the political scene for the Kent Fire Fighters Union. 

With the re-organization of the WSCFF Legislative Division at the 2003 Convention, Bud was hired later that year to fill the second Legislative Liaison position.
