Benevolent Fund Information
 

The WSCFF Benevolent Fund is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation created to provide aid to fire fighters, their families, and others deemed in need.  Donations made to the Benevolent Fund are tax deductible and will be used to assist beneficiaries in recovering from difficult times resulting from illness, injury or the death of a loved one.  We do not solicit the public for donations to the Benevolent Fund. The Benevolent Fund is a registered charity with the Secretary of State.  It exists solely as a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation.  The UBI number for the Benevolent Fund is 601-614-340.

The WSCFF Benevolent Fund Programs

  • Professional Fire Fighter License Plates

The Washington State Legislature passed House Bill 2910 during the 2004 legislative session creating a specialized license plate for fire fighters and paramedics. This plate series is only available to members of the WSCFF who must submit an application prior to receiving a fire fighter/paramedic license plate.

  • Scholarships

 

An applicant must meet several requirements to be considered and must be a member or dependent of a member of the Washington State Council of Fire Fighters.

Application Period:

Mid December 2013 ~ February 28, 2014

  • Application packet must be postmarked or personally delivered by February 28, 2014.

  • Applications postmarked after February 28, 2014, will not be considered.

  • Incomplete application packets (those missing any of the above-listed enclosures) will not be considered. We understand that some applicants may not have proof of acceptance at the time of application.  If this applies to you, please submit a list of the schools to which you have applied.  

  • It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the application packet – complete with all attachments – has been delivered to the WSCFF office.

Collector's Coins

A tradition within the Washington State fire fighter ranks, starting shortly after 9/11, Lakewood Fire Fighters Union minted coins to reflect the fire fighters raising the flag at the World Trade Center in New York and the IAFF emblem on the back. The practice of coining has become very important to many of our members, much like it is with military units of the Armed Forces.

 

Picking up from that idea, the WSCFF Public Relations Committee minted coins with a dated WSCFF graphic and IAFF emblem to attest devotion to our professional affiliations. CLICK HERE to read a little about the art of coining.

 

Benevolent Fund Coins are $15.00 each.  Please contact the WSCFF office in Olympia if you would like to place an order. Click here for address and contact information.

 

All proceeds from the sale of coins will be used by the WSCFF Benevolent Fund for charitable purposes.
