DESCRIPTION:Spouses who accompany WSCFF members to convention are invited to attend a class that will enhance understanding of our members challenges\, followed by a wine tasting class.  These events will be held at the Vancouver Firefighters Union Hall.  Childcare and lunch will be provided.  A shuttle from the Hilton Convention site to the union hall will be available.  Pre-registration is required. \n\n\n\nMelissa Wainwright\, PhD\, and wife of WSCFF 9th District Representative Jeff Wainwright\, will present Work\, Union\, and Family Balance on Monday\, June 19\, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.  \n\n\n\nThe course will be an open discussion about achieving a balance between the life of the spouse or partner of a union official and protecting time for your family and yourself. There will also be coverage of behavioral resources and open discussions. \n\n\n\nThe class will be followed by a wine tasting class – Local 452 has arranged for a sommelier to come and teach how to discern flavors and complexities of various wines. \n\n\n\n\n10:00 – 11:15 a.m. Class\n\n\n\n11:15 – 11:45 Lunch \n\n\n\n11:45 a.m. – 1:45 p.m. Wine Tasting

DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Navy Region NW F&ES\, The PFT certificate course\, now known as F2T 101: Fitness Principles and Practice\, is the flagship course of the IAFF’s Fit To Thrive (F2T) program. Designed using the latest research on fire fighter wellness and fitness\, exercise science\, and behavioral change\, F2T 101 emphasizes the assessment\, design\, implementation\, and leadership skills required to serve as an ambassador for wellness and fitness in the fire service.  \n\n\n\nThe in-person F2T 101 course runs over four consecutive days and involves small and large-group activities\, case studies and hands-on exercise sessions. It is designed specifically for fire fighters and EMS providers employed by a fire department.  \n\n\n\nTo receive a PFT certificate\, participants must attend all four days of the course and successfully pass the virtual exam\, which is accessible four weeks after the course finishes. SUMMARY:IAFF Political Training Academy
DESCRIPTION:The A. Michael Mullane Political Academy was created to educate and train IAFF members to enhance their local’s political operation. Campaigns and elections are about choices\, and the PTA is about learning how to make the best choices possible to win political campaigns. \n\n\n\nThe purpose of running and winning campaigns is to improve your memberships’ pay\, benefits\, safety\, and retirement.  Local elections are more about organizing and implementing a successful campaign than raising the most money.  It is about building political relationships with the community and elected leaders to become the public safety expert in the eyes of your community. \n\n\n\nThe PTA is designed for our members who are candidates for public office\, serving as activists in candidate campaigns or ballot initiative campaigns. \n\n\n\n PTA is a week-long intensive program taking place in Maryland\, taught by campaign professionals and IAFF staff. In our campaign stimulation\, students are placed into teams where they work on a mock campaign and develop an entire campaign plan using the best practices and essential elements.  \n\n\n\nThe elements of a campaign provide students with insight into planning a campaign through assessing resources\, fundraising\, budgeting\, voter targeting\, direct mail\, recruiting and managing volunteers\, communications and media\, and get-out-the-vote.  In addition\, students learn to be aware of election rules and laws at every level of government to ensure that their campaign complies with applicable election laws. \n\n\n\nDue to the interactive nature of the training\, the PTA class size is limited to 50 students. \n\n\n\nThe PTA is unique in that it is the only IAFF program where the IAFF and FIREPAC bear most of the cost.  Students are responsible for their transportation to and from the PTA. Students are also responsible for any incidental room charges.  The IAFF pays for the cost of the program\, which includes housing\, meals\, and the week-long training program.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMore details will be posted when they become available.

DESCRIPTION:IAFF 7th District Fire Ops 101 will take place in Boise\, Idaho from May 8 through May 9\, 2025. Fire Ops 101 provides local IAFF affiliates an opportunity to invite elected officials and members of the media to experience the time critical\, highly technical\, labor intensive work of fire fighters and paramedics.  \n\n\n\nAttendance is limited to one elected official or media person per local\, and a local member must accompany (shadow) each attendee. SUMMARY:IAFF 7th District Shad Derby
DESCRIPTION:The Derby takes place from June 17 – 19\, 2025 in Umatilla\, Oregon.  \n\n\n\nFire fighters from across the IAFF 7th District will for a two-day mix of friendly competition and fundraising for the IAFF 7th District Benevolent Fund. Festivities begin Tuesday evening with a Texas Hold ’em tournament ($20 buy-in)\, followed by Wednesday’s Fishing Derby: the top three boats with the best five-fish aggregate will take home prizes. \n\n\n\nDerby entry is $80 and includes dinner on both nights. If you can’t watch the livestream\, the recording will be available to view on TVW afterward. \n\n\n\nFamilies\, the honor of your presence is requested.
