b'Mission Statement:The objectives of this manual are to promote safe and healthy practices for fire fighters from their first day to retirement. It identifies best practices for reducing exposure to carcinogens, preventing injury, promoting behavioral health, prioritizing sleep hygiene, and maintaining wellness and fitness. Fire fighters must adopt healthy lifestyle choices and reduce their exposure to known cancer risks to minimize the risk of cancer. Common-sense practices, specialized equipment and guidelines promote safety and health in the workplace. These best practices and guidelines should be used to promote a long and healthy career.Fire Fighter Health + SafetyCollaborative Statement:The Washington State Council of Fire Fighters, Washington Fire Chiefs and Washington Department of Labor & Industries have joined forces to establish a collaborative effort aimed at improving communication within the state to support the FIIRE initiative.
