Alicia Marmolejo

Alicia Marmolejo joined the Office of the Ombuds in March of 2020 as an assistant to the Ombuds advocating for the rights of injured workers of self-insured employers. Primary responsibilities include facilitating resolution of inquiries and investigations, applying expert level knowledge of Washington industrial rules/regulations and dispute resolution skills, collaborating with stakeholders, identifying systemic issues and recommending policy improvements. Alicia finds this position rewarding, as it affords her the opportunity to educate injured workers, who in turn gain confidence in navigating the complex workers’ compensation system and advocating for themselves.
Alicia has been with Labor and Industries for over 30 years. Prior to joining the Ombuds Office, Alicia worked in the Retrospective Rating Program as a Claim Protests & Appeals Manager, and prior to that as a level three bilingual workers compensation adjudicator working with agriculture based employers. Alicia has nearly 25 years of experience as a WA worker’s compensation adjudicator and is an invaluable resource to the Ombuds program and the customers we serve.
