WSCFF Cancer Foundation

Helping All Active or Retired First Responders and Their Families Cope with Cancer

The WSCFF Cancer Foundation, established by Resolution 24-17 and funded by the members of the Washington State Council Fire Fighters and donations, is available and ready to assist you. Formerly known as the Firefighter Cancer Support Network – Washington Chapter (FCSN-WA), the Washington State Council of Fire Fighters Cancer Foundation is now a program within the WSCFF Benevolent Fund

The WSCFF Cancer Foundation provides compassionate support for fire service members facing cancer diagnosis. From connecting individuals with financial planners, DRS, L&I Ombuds, and behavioral health counselors, to offering practical and emotional support, the Foundation addresses the unique challenges posed by a cancer diagnosis.  The Foundation honors Bill Hoover, the co-founder of FCSN-WA who was instrumental not in program development but, as a cancer survivor himself, provided meaningful support to newly diagnosed brothers and sisters.

Advocacy

Advocating for fire fighter safety and health, members of the WSCFF Cancer Foundation not only have the ability to advocate for an individual when dealing with a diagnosis, but also have the opportunity to identify and support fire fighter safety and health issues through identifying and promoting best practices and policy development that helps reduce fire fighters’ exposures to known toxins and poisons.
