Eric Monroe

Eric Monroe is a retired Battalion Chief from the Shoreline Fire Department and is the Director of the newly formed Washington State Council of Firefighters Cancer Foundation. As director, Eric coordinates a team of fire fighter mentors and educators from around the state providing the services of the WSCFF Cancer Foundation. Prior to the launch of the WSCFF Cancer Foundation, Eric served as the State Director for the WA Chapter of the Firefighter Cancer Support Network.

A big advocate in firefighter health and wellness, Eric believes that there is an opportunity to make changes in practices and behaviors to decrease occupational exposures thereby reducing the number of cancer related illnesses and death.

Eric has more than 30 years of experience in the Fire Service, and before joining FCSN in 2011, worked as a member of his department’s health and wellness team promoting firefighter health and wellness issues including the development of annual physical program and later the development of the department Peer Support Team.

The WSCFF Cancer Foundation offers a wide range of programs and services, from varying levels of education to model language for prevention policies, procedures and best practices, to providing support and assistance to fire fighters and family when faced with a diagnosis of cancer.
