Joe Kendo

Joe Kendo serves as the Chief of Staff at the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO, where he supervises the program staff of the Council, and directly assists the President in the execution of her vision for the labor movement. Hired in 2013 as Legislative Director, Kendo spent ten years on the lobbying team where he lead on issues pertaining to workers’ compensation, collective bargaining, retirement, infrastructure, wage and hour, and paid family and medical leave. Prior to working for the WSLC, he was a union representative for the Washington Federation of State Employees/AFSCME Council 28, and interned in 2008 for the WSLC’s lobbying team. Kendo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Western Washington University, and lives in Bellevue with his wife Becca and their four boys. He is a member of IAFF local 46.
