Tim Valencia

Mr. Valencia is the deputy director for the Washington State Law Enforcement Officers’ and Fire Fighters’ (LEOFF) Plan 2 Retirement Board, a policy-making board with the responsibility to study pension issues, set contribution rates and recommend pension policy to the state legislature. Mr. Valencia has 30 years of experience in public pension policy and administration. He has been a speaker and moderator at multiple national conferences discussing public pension policy, governance/administration and fiduciary responsibility.
Mr. Valencia is a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) and served on the IFEBP Board of Directors and as Chair of the Public Employees Board. Mr. Valencia is a past president of the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (ISCEBS).
Mr. Valencia graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and marketing from the University of Washington and earned a Master of Business Administration degree in technology and innovation management from Pacific Lutheran University. He also earned the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the IFEBP.
