10th District Report

Chad Blashill, WSCFF 10th District Representative

Greetings from the windy yet warm southeastern part of the state: the WSCFF 10th District. We’ve had an incredibly busy start to 2025. We’ve experienced wins and losses, ups and downs, but we’ve continued the fight no matter what.

Thanks to all who made the journey to Kennewick this spring for our annual IAFF-WSCFF Jointly Sponsored Educational Seminar. As always, it was a busy and enlightening week. We enjoyed fantastic speakers, and classes were well attended. I hope those who attended had a chance to take back something new and useful to their local.

Additional thanks to all the locals throughout our state and the IAFF 7th District for investing in their membership by participating in the 7th District New Members Conference. As challenging as it was to host two events in as many weeks, we’ve always enjoyed hosting WSCFF and IAFF events in the past and are looking forward to more in the years to come.

In early March, the Tri-Cities area locals hosted their Second Annual Fire Fighter Ball. Our 2024 event was a great success; our second ball was even better. The night of celebration was expanded to include most of the locals within the 10th District, and thanks to the attendees, we raised nearly $7,000 for our WSCFF Burn Foundation. We look forward to continuing this wonderful celebration for our members for many years to come.

From time to time, we celebrate, but our work continues every day. Under the leadership of IAFF 7th DVP Walsh, we have either organized or are in the process of organizing four new bargaining units since last year, including part-time employees in Pullman, administrative staff in Pasco, Connell EMS, and the City of Selah. We are pleased to have them as part of the 10th

As our District grows, so does our workload. However, we must view this as an opportunity to increase our engagement as well as our chance to serve others to better their lives.
