Craig Hooper

My name is Craig Hooper. I’m a retired member of Local 1762, Eastside Fire and Rescue. I spent the last 13+ years as a Battalion Chief. I retired 6/25 after serving 34 years. I grew up in Bellevue and currently live in Maple Valley. I am also a Fire Commissioner for KCFD43.

My journey in the fire service was inspired by a few friends and clients from my previous profession. One of those who encouraged me was Joe Sanford, the Kirkland Fire Chief. It was a great career and I’m thankful to those who supported me through the last year after some crazy medical issues.

I have been involved with the WSCFF Cancer Foundation since 2013 after Eric Monroe and Bill Hoover asked me to help out with all the organization was doing. It has been a great experience helping firefighters, their families and friends with cancer education, awareness and support. Every day brings us something new, the threats of cancer are real and we need to do all we can to reduce exposures and diagnosis. I believe that we are all responsible to make things better.
