South County Union Firefighters, Local 1828 began its charter membership in 1969.  Local 1828 represents 200+ career Firefighters, Firefighter/Paramedics, Captains, and Battalion Chiefs that work out of 12 fire stations located throughout Southwest Snohomish County.

Olympia Fire Department is the oldest, organized Fire Department in Washington State. Founded in 1858, after merging Columbia Engine Company and Barnes Hook & Ladder Company of the 1850s.
