Gregory Edward Hull passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022. Since December of 2019, Greg courageously battled a rare cancer that started in his sinus, showing strength and determination through each step of his journey. The outpouring of support from friends, colleagues, and family was a true reflection of the kindness, patience, and generosity that defined his life.
Greg began his fire service career with Lakewood Fire (now Local 1488 West Pierce) in 1969 and served with distinction until his retirement in 2010 as Assistant Chief. He continued to lead and serve as Fire Chief for the City of DuPont, bringing his total career to more than 43 years. Greg had a wide range of interests, was a passionate aviator and a walking encyclopedia of WWII aircraft, happiest when flying his Cessna 150.
Greg was dedicated to serving the community and creating a supportive environment for new fire fighters. His motto to new recruits: “Find a role model, be a role model.”
His family and loved ones know his was a life well-lived, and one with no regrets. Please keep Greg’s fire service family, his community, and his loving family in your thoughts and prayers.
