Bryan Copeland, WSCFF 3rd District Representative
Across the WSCFF 3rd District, the past year has been defined by steady progress and investment in our people. We have continued our commitment to the communities we serve. From leadership development to operational advancements, our locals demonstrate pride in the profession and a clear vision for the future.
One of the most rewarding developments has been our district’s continued success in the IAFF 7th District Executive Leadership Series. Class IV concluded in April, bringing us four more graduates. We now have nine members who have completed the program. This milestone reflects more than participation. It signals a growing culture of leadership and professional development within our ranks. I am proud to have been part of the Class IV cohort alongside brothers Shaun Cuthbert (Local 726 Pierce County), Reed Thompson (Local 726 Pierce County), and Adam Morse (Local 3152 Key Peninsula). I am also grateful to Locals 726, 1488, and 3152 for supporting these members throughout this journey.
We are seeing meaningful advancements across the district. Several locals have transitioned to four-platoon schedules. This change improves service delivery and workforce sustainability. Increased daily staffing levels, including the addition of frontline apparatus, reflect continued investment in firefighter readiness and public safety.
This year, we launched our 3rd District Leadership Meetings, bringing together local leaders to strengthen relationships, share ideas, and coordinate advocacy. These efforts reinforce our commitment to collaboration and speaking with a unified voice on the issues that matter most to our members.
Behind the scenes, our locals continue the essential work of bargaining strong contracts, protecting working conditions, and advocating for the safety of our members and the public.
Together, these efforts highlight what makes the 3rd District strong: a commitment to progress, investment in our people, and solidarity across our locals. The work being done today shapes the leaders and systems that will carry us forward.
