Craig Becker, WSCFF 7th District Representative
Report from the “Mini” 7th,
Members and leadership in the WSCFF 7th District continue to be actively involved in various events, including state and national conferences such as the IAFF-WSCFF Jointly Sponsored Educational Seminar, the IAFF Political Training Academy, and the Legislative Conferences held in Olympia and Washington, D.C. Additionally, delegates from the 7th will soon attend the 2025 WSCFF Convention in Marysville, Washington.
Furthermore, members of the 7th remain dedicated to supporting fellow firefighters and their communities by raising funds for their respective Benevolent funds. The Kitsap Fire Fighters’ annual Gala was a success, raising funds for their charitable causes, including direct support for their annual “Coats for Kids” initiative. Similarly, our Brothers and Sisters from Local 2032, East Jefferson Professional Firefighters successfully raised over $5,000 through their annual pancake feed.
Another development, members of CKFR have joined forces with IAFF Local 437, Bremerton Firefighters. This merger of IAFF Locals serves as a foundation for exploring and implementing collaborative ideas, potentially leading to a functional merger between the two departments.
On a sad note, we lost Brother Loyd McCallister from IAFF Local 2876, South Kitsap Fire and Rescue. Brother McCallister’s LODD was due to occupational cancer. Additionally, Kitsap County recently lost Eric Quitslund, who served with the Poulsbo Fire Department, Subbase Bangor, North Kitsap Fire & Rescue, South Kitsap Fire & Rescue, and then retired as an Assistant Chief from Clallam Fire District #3. Please keep their families in your thoughts during this difficult time.
Please have safe and enjoyable summer with your friends and family.
