Darrin Deming
1st District Behavioral Health Coordinator
Darrin Deming, L452 joined the fire service in 2002, served as a paramedic from 2004 – 2023, and currently works as a Captain on Engine 9 at the Vancouver Fire Department. He’s the Peer Support Coordinator for the agency and has been involved in Peer Support for nearly ten years.

Rian Winter
2nd District Behavioral Health CoordinatorRian Winter, L2409 has been with The Tumwater Fire Department since 2016. He is the president of Local 2409, a member of the Local’s PEER Support Team, and has been heavily involved in the Thurston County PEER Support Consortium since its formation.

Jeff Campbell
3rd District Behavioral Health CoordinatorJeff Campbell, IAFF L726, is a Battalion Chief and manages the Behavioral Health Program for Central Pierce Fire & Rescue. He started his career in 2002 in Newberg, Oregon. He served as firefighter/paramedic, training officer/paramedic, and lieutenant/paramedic for Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue before joining Central Pierce in 2023. He is also a master Peer Support and Resilience Instructor with the IAFF.

Rob Allen
4th District Behavioral Health CoordinatorA firefighter for more than 18 years, Rob Allen L1352, serves on the Zone 3 Behavioral Health Committee in South King County and is the Program Manager for the Valley Regional Fire Authority’s Peer Support Team. “Behavioral health in the fire service is evolving rapidly and it can be difficult to know what resources are available and appropriate. Please reach out if you need anything. I am your resource and advocate.

Greg Garat
5th District Behavioral Health CoordinatorGreg Garat L1762 joined the fire service as a volunteer in 1992 and was hired with Woodinville Fire and Rescue in 1996. He became part of Eastside Fire & Rescue then the two organizations merged in 2021. He serves as a Battalion Chief of Operations and oversees both the Chaplain and Peer Support programs.

Anna Melillo
8th District Behavioral Health CoordinatorAnna Melillo, L3438, serves as her department’s Health and Wellness Coordinator, helped deliver “Healthy In, Healthy Out” best practices training, and serves on the Peer Support Team for her department in collaboration with local chaplains and coworkers. She serves as Local 3438 Secretary Treasurer, has recently completed paramedic certification, and is a graduate of the IAFF 7th District Executive Leadership Series Class II.

Jason King
9th District Behavioral Health CoordinatorJason King, L29 has worked as a firefighter for the city of Spokane since 2015. He joined the PEER Team in 2019 and now serves as team lead. Prior to joining the fire service, he served in the Army as a Medic with 2nd Infantry Division out of Fort Lewis WA. He is an advocate for mental health and changing the stigma that, as firefighters “we all signed up for this and need to just get over the bad stuff.”

Trey Irwin
10th District Behavioral Health CoordinatorTrey Irwin, L2299 served in the Idaho Army National Guard as a Combat Medic and began his career in EMS in 2012. He served five years with the Moscow, ID Volunteer Fire Department before taking a position with AMR in Spokane County. In 2019, he joined the City of Clarkston Fire Department. He has served as Local 2299 President and Vice President. He is an advocate for advancing statewide peer support tams and enhancing the mental health of fire fighters.

Michael Newhouse
WSCFF Retirees Association CoordinatorMichael Newhouse started his fire service career as a resident-volunteer in 1983 at Parkland Fire Department in Pierce County and went on to work at Subase Bangor Fire before spending the remainder of his career with the City of Tacoma where he held positions from Firefighter/Paramedic to Assistant Chief before retiring in 2020.
John Gallup
Co-ChairAn IAFF member since 1990, John Gallup L1747 was elected to the WSCFF Board of Trustees in 2003. He is a Battalion Chief with Puget Sound Regional Fire Department. In addition to serving as co-chair of the WSCFF Behavioral Health Committee, John is a member of the WSCFF Health and Safety Committee and a member of the IAFF Behavioral Health Committee.
