Local leaders, district representatives, President Dennis Lawson and Secretary/Treasurer Greg Markley represented the WSCFF at the 2019 IAFF Legislative Conference. IAFF victories on Capitol Hill are largely attributed to relationships between local leaders and elected officials. The conference gives members a chance to strengthen those ties and to lobby on IAFF priority legislation. 
This year’s conference featured a speech by Joe Biden. The former Vice President and longtime friend of labor was greeted with “Run Joe Run” signs and received a standing ovation. He is the only candidate for President invited to speak at the annual event. Biden told the crowd, “I appreciate the energy you showed when I came up here. Save it a little longer – I may need it in a few weeks.”
