Larry Spohn, October 17, 2022

With great sadness, the WSCFF and Local 726 Pierce County Fire Fighters report the line-of-duty death of retired Assistant Chief Larry Spohn. Larry Spohn passed away on October 17, 2022 from a duty related illness. Larry served South Pierce County for 20 years and retired as the Assistant Chief in 2013.

Larry closed his garage working on cars in Eatonville to take the position as a firefighter/mechanic. When the department reorganized, he was promoted to Battalion Duty Officer/Battalion Chief, and then Assistant Chief position. During his 20 plus years of exemplary service, he impacted many, both personally and professionally. He was a mentor and a friend to so many in the fire service today.
