District leadership meets quarterly to address issues affecting our members and the communities we serve. One of the most pressing challenges facing the 6th District is prolonged hospital wait times.
Across our region, emergency units face hours-long delays in transferring patients to hospital staff. These “wall times” are not just an inconvenience; they directly affect system readiness by taking frontline units out of service. The result is fewer resources available to respond to emergencies, placing additional strain on neighboring jurisdictions and the system.
There are no easy solutions to this complex issue. The 6th District remains committed to collaborating with our partners to identify strategies that reduce delays for crews, improve patient handoffs, and maintain the level of service our communities expect and deserve. We will remain focused on protecting our members and the public we serve.
